Dear Life Church Family,
This coming Sunday, September 15, is Vision Sunday. This is the time that our church family has set aside to address three very important questions as we enter a brand new season:
- Where is God leading us as a church family?
- What is my part in the story?
- Who will be serving on the leadership team?
Our church family has walked through a lot this past year. There were many wonderful moments that we experienced together. But we also shared grief, sadness, and loss. That’s what happens in a family. We rejoice with those who rejoice; we mourn with those who mourn. When one member of the body suffers, we all suffer. We are family.
This fall marks a brand new season for our church family. We just finished one chapter. We are now entering a new chapter.
Our understanding of how the church works is that Jesus is the leader and we do what he tells us to do, we go where he tells us to go. God initiates; we respond. And as I’ve prayed, and as our leaders have prayed, the overwhelming sense that we feel is that God is inviting us deeper into his presence, his love, and his power. We sense God inviting us to ask him for more of his Holy Spirit to come and move in our midst.
Vision Sunday is the time that we will talk about this invitation from Jesus to our church family and how we want to respond to this gracious invitation. We will introduce our new leadership team who will be serving and leading us in this new season. I am so grateful to see the amazing people that God has brought to our church family. I am really looking forward to working alongside this great team. I can’t wait to introduce them to you on Sunday.
If you consider Life Church to be your home church, then let me encourage you to do everything you can to come on Sunday and be a part of this important conversation in which you play a huge role as a member of our church family. Your participation matters. Your prayers matter. Our unity matters. We are family.
If you are reading this and you are not yet a part of our church family, let me also encourage you to come and listen. Come and see if God stirs your heart to join us as we join Jesus in his Kingdom story for Vancouver.
At the end of our time together on Sunday, we will take Holy Communion as a church family to remember the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We are family only because of Jesus!
I am excited to enter this new season with you!
