We (Insoo and Brent) are two fun-loving, Netflix-watching, mostly-introverted pastors enjoying life in Vancouver. We love this great city with its craft beer, local coffee, and delicious food. And the people are pretty awesome, too!
Along with our wives and kids, we lead a small, new church startup called Life Church (www.lifevancouver.org) that meets in the Olympic Village neighbourhood in False Creek. It is a close-knit community that enjoys eating together, playing together, laughing together, and learning what it means to live a life of faith, hope, and love. Our dream is to see everyone flourish.
As pastors, we are passionate about coming alongside of people who want to know more about Jesus. Not a religion. But a person. Over the years, we’ve gone on many long walks with people in Vancouver who are spiritual but not religious. We’ve grabbed beer with people who are turned off by church. We’ve cried with those who have been hurt by Christians. And we’ve learned these two important things:
- People are drawn to Jesus.
- People are turned off by Christians not so much because of what they believe, but because of their lack of love.
This is where we hope to show a different way, a better way, the way of Jesus.
Can we buy you a cup of coffee?
If you are genuinely interested in exploring life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and fun environment, we would love to buy you a cup of coffee and tell you about Alpha. We would love to get a chance to meet you in person, get to know you, and answer any questions you may have for us. You can find us sitting at one of the long tables at Blenz Coffee on the corner of 2nd and Manitoba. But if the weather is nice, we might be sitting outside.
What is Alpha, you ask?
It is a series of weekly interactive conversations exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Alpha is designed to create conversation. There’s no pressure or follow-up. It’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together. We hope to start Alpha sometime in May.
