What does it mean to actually "follow" Jesus? Put simply, it means you re-organize your life around three goals: Be with Jesus. Become like Jesus. Do what Jesus did.
That’s it. But that’s an entire life's pursuit. It is not just an event on a Sunday, but a “way” of life in community around the teachings of Jesus. To live this way means we need to be transformed, from the inside out. Is this kind of deep, authentic radical change of character possible? Really? Even in the chaos of the modern, digital, urban world? The answer is: absolutely yes. Through teaching, practice, community, and the Holy Spirit, we can recover our humanity in apprenticeship to Jesus.
Once a month, we take a break from our regular Sunday gathering to make space to actually practice what we are learning, like a workshop where we are equipped for Kingdom living in the way of Jesus. Sure, doing a Bible study on praying for the sick or listening to the voice of God is great. But imagine actually practicing this together. This is where real learning and growth happens. This is how a student becomes a practitioner. This is what The Practice is all about.
What’s the topic for The Practice this session?
Discovering Your Identity and Calling
One of the key tasks of our apprenticeship to Jesus is discovering our identity and calling. Knowing who you are and who God made you to become is a profound realization for every follower of Jesus. Listen to the teachings and work through the practice with your community as you learn to become the person God designed you to be.
