Sunday Gathering - Lord Teach Us to Pray

  • Community Lounge (Third Floor) 75 West 1st Avenue Vancouver, BC, V5Y 0C4 Canada (map)

Sunday Gathering is about doing life together because no person is an island. We can only flourish in community. God never intended for us to go through life alone. We were created for relationship. Sure, relationships can be messy and challenging at times. But what we get in return is priceless! When we experience life surrounded by others who share our love for God, we’ll not only build lasting friendships, but we’ll find that we belong to a family.

Every week, we begin our time together with a family-style potluck dinner. Sharing a meal together is at the heart of our desire to be a community where everyone is known and loved. Jesus is bringing complete strangers together around this table and making us into a family.

After dinner we move into a time of learning and growing together as a community. There is a short talk and a discussion on a topic that is designed to help us live life to the fullest. We end with worship and prayer time to help us connect with God.

Come and join us as we discover community, love others, and encounter God. Whatever your thoughts on church, whatever your beliefs about God, you are welcome here!

What are we studying in the Bible? The Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6.

The Sermon on the Mount has been called the greatest sermon ever preached. John Stott has noted that the Sermon on the Mount is “probably the best known part of the teachings of Jesus, though arguably it is the least understood, and certainly it is the least obeyed.”

Maybe you have found this to be true in your own journey of trying to understand and live out these words of Jesus. They are beautiful words that seem to defy reality. They seem to be speaking of another world that is not quite like ours.

But what if these words are really for us today in Vancouver? What if this is exactly how we can participate in God's kingdom today? What if this is exactly how we become a Kingdom people who experience the "eternal kind of life" here and now?
