As followers of Jesus, we all have a desire to share our faith with our friends. But not many of us can say that talking about Jesus is something that comes very naturally to us.
I read a survey that said that 95% of Christians have never led another person to Christ. I had a chance to ask some people what keeps them from sharing their faith. Here are some of their answers:
“The hardest thing about evangelism for me is not having all the answers or being confident enough to say what I think.”
“I am afraid of sounding like an idiot and not knowing how, what and when to start talking.”
“For me, the hardest thing about sharing my faith is rejection.”
Even for me, as a pastor, sharing my faith does not come easily. I, too, struggle with not always knowing what to say. I, too, struggle with fear of rejection. But despite my fears, I keep sharing my faith because I want people to fall in love with Jesus and flourish in him. I know that Jesus will radically change their lives.
Doing something hard becomes much easier when we are doing it with others. And this is the journey that I want to invite you to be a part of.
For the next 10 weeks, we are going to learn, train, and grow in sharing our faith. As part of the journey, we will each spend a little bit of time each week doing some “homework” designed to help you engage in a process of learning how to speak of Jesus with others.
We will come together on Sundays to share a potluck meal together, discuss the weekly topic, and pray for our friends who do not yet know Jesus.
